Olivia Furnell, Property Manager at Flagship Healthcare Properties in Charlotte, North Carolina, has been selected by CRE Insight Journal as one of the 10 to Watch in commercial real estate. The CRE Insight Journal 10 to Watch program recognizes the commercial real estate industry’s top early career professionals and showcases how emerging professionals are shaping the real estate industry through a variety of career pathways.

At Flagship Healthcare Properties, Olivia is responsible for managing a portfolio of more than 350,000 square feet of Class A medical office and healthcare facility space. Before joining Flagship Healthcare Properties, Olivia served as an Assistant Community Manager with Bell Partners. She also held roles at Steadfast Management Company and Campus Advantage.  Transitioning into the commercial real estate sector in December 2022, she has grown through the guidance of industry leaders, demonstrating a high-level understanding of financial and operational management and fostering strong relationships with clients and partners. Her current role as Property Manager places her alongside senior leadership, providing first-rate property management services to a wide array of medical tenants and achieving some of the highest tenant satisfaction scores in her department.

“I am proud of the achievements I’ve made in my career so far and am eager to continue growing and being challenged. The real estate industry is a living, breathing business and is constantly evolving – a trait for which I am eternally grateful. There is always something to learn, improve upon, or study, and I am indebted to those who have inspired me to embrace this career path,” Olivia said.

Olivia has also made significant contributions through community service. Growing up alongside her mother, who is actively involved in nonprofit work, she has engaged in various outreach activities, including food drives, volunteering at soup kitchens, and providing musical entertainment at assisted living facilities.

“Participating in local service opportunities is an excellent way to enrich your understanding of the community in which you live and simultaneously broaden your perspective on a global scale. It is only through giving that we are able to truly appreciate those who have given so much to us,” she said.

Additionally, Olivia participates in Operation Christmas Child, an initiative run by Samaritan’s Purse which sends gift-filled Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes to children in need. Olivia extends her volunteerism into the workplace as well, noting recent volunteer opportunities she and her colleagues have participated in with the Salvation Army and Baby Bundles.

Olivia envisions a transformative role for the real estate industry in society. “Because of its wide-spread influence, members of the real estate industry have the capacity to revolutionize modern day business. Our voice is powerful and must be used wisely,” she said. “Spanning every generation, our industry brings together people of all ages, races, and backgrounds for a unified purpose. The opportunity to create a better life and a brighter future for yourself and those you love is something that should not be taken for granted. By increasing the degree of accessibility, we have established a space where individuals of all skill levels and educational backgrounds can achieve professional success.”
