Sarah Mould, Assistant Property Manager at Cushman & Wakefield in Durham, North Carolina, has been selected by CRE Insight Journal as one of the 10 to Watch in commercial real estate. The CRE Insight Journal 10 to Watch program recognizes the commercial real estate industry’s top early career professionals and showcases how emerging professionals are shaping the real estate industry through a variety of career pathways.

At Cushman & Wakefield, Sarah works on a team of four to manage more than 400,000 square feet of life science and office space, where she is responsible for financial reporting, tenant relations, and contract execution for building repairs. Her role also includes managing access control systems, work order management, and organizing tenant events.

In 2023, she was named Young Professional of the Year by the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) of Raleigh-Durham and received the “Rising Performer” award from Cushman & Wakefield.

“These awards inspire me to keep growing, exploring new skills, and finding ways to enhance the tenant experience,” Sarah said.

In 2024, she was honored as a BOMA International/Yardi Sustainability Grant recipient, which enabled her to attend the BOMA International Conference and Expo as a sustainability scholar, an experience she describes as transformative.

At Cushman & Wakefield, Sarah has led the development of several tenant events, which foster a sense of community at the property she serves. These events include Earth Day celebrations, Diwali events, and unique competitions like Family Feud.

“Seeing our tenants enjoy these activities and feel a break from routine is extremely rewarding,” she said.

Additionally, Sarah created a quarterly newsletter featuring building announcements, tenant highlights, and local community event information to further strengthen connections and a sense of community among the tenants she serves. This commitment to tenant engagement has contributed to her team achieving a tenant satisfaction rating of 4.9 in their 2024 Kingsley survey at the property she serves, and the rating has consistently risen since Sarah joined the team.

Outside of her professional role, Sarah serves as the chair of the Government Affairs committee for BOMA Raleigh-Durham. In this position, she has led successful fundraising events for BOMA International’s Political Action Committee, contributing more than $2,000 in 2024 alone. “I’m passionate about sustainability and environmental policy, and this committee gives me the chance to advocate for legislation supporting these values within commercial real estate,” she said.

Sarah also volunteered for two semesters as an English for Speakers of Other Languages teacher at the Durham Literacy Center, helping immigrant and refugee students gain English proficiency. “Helping my students develop confidence and achieve their goals was an unforgettable experience,” she said. Her commitment to volunteerism extends further to wildlife rehabilitation advocacy fundraising for a local animal shelter.

Sarah sees commercial real estate as essential to community well-being, with buildings that support social, professional, and recreational needs. She envisions a future where the built environment becomes greener and more community focused.

“Incorporating pollinator gardens, electric vehicle charging stations, and exercise spaces shows that tenant well-being is a priority,” she said. Further stating that she believes that as real estate professionals adapt to create collaborative, healthy, and environmentally friendly spaces, they help foster a sense of belonging and support mental well-being for all building occupants.
