The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) of Georgia has launched a three-part video series exploring infectious disease prevention. In the videos, Infection Prevention Manager Krystle Johnson RN, MSN, CIC, with Emory Healthcare, explores areas of importance specifically to real estate managers, operators, and tenants.

In the Cleaning and Waste Management video, Johnson discusses building and office cleaning, as well as waste disposal. She also discusses cleaning needs and frequency for high-touch surfaces, as well as considerations for higher traffic areas of buildings and building amenities such as gyms.

The Face Masks and Face Touching video explores the use of face masks in infectious disease prevention and control. It is important to know when and when not to use face masks to avoid the spread of infectious disease. Improper use of face masks not only depletes resources, but can also increase the risk of spreading disease.

In the Hand Hygiene video, Johnson shares information on practices that can help reduce the spread of infectious disease. Since hand hygiene is a critical component of infection prevention, Johnson discusses the ideal duration of hand washing, water temperature, and often-missed areas when washing hands. She also discusses the use of hand sanitizing solution.
