Marcy Moneypenny, Founder of The Moneypenny Collective, received the 2026 Thought Leadership Award from CRE Insight Journal. With more than 35 years of experience in commercial real estate, Marcy has built a reputation as a transformational leader, mentor, and advocate for advancing women in the industry.

Marcy has held leadership roles from property manager to principal, working with Fortune 500 companies and local firms in domestic and global markets. Her experience across market cycles and organizational structures provides her with a unique perspective on leadership, career development, and organizational success.

Before founding The Moneypenny Collective, Marcy was Principal and Managing Director at Avison Young’s Denver office, spending five years growing business, boosting client service, and building a culture that enabled diverse teams to thrive. Previously, she spent over 15 years at CBRE serving clients like Morgan Stanley, Nuveen, JP Morgan, Allianz US, Clarion, and Credit Suisse. She is recognized for strategic leadership, client focus, and developing people.

As Global Executive Sponsor of Avison Young’s Women’s Network, EMPOWER, Marcy led initiatives for women’s advancement. Her dedication to mentorship and inclusion earned her the GlobeSt.com Mentor Award in 2023 and Avison Young’s Global DE&I Champion Award in 2025.

Marcy has contributed to CRE Insight Journal through webinars such as “Disrupting the Status Quo.” She also played a leadership role in developing and planning CRE Insight Journal’s first CRE Women’s Leadership Summit. At the summit, Marcy spoke on “The Power of Mentorship and Sponsorship in Career Growth” and moderated a panel on the topic of “Lessons in Leadership.” Her involvement helped shape a program focused on the experiences and challenges facing women in commercial real estate, while creating opportunities for attendees to learn from and connect with other industry leaders.

She has continued that involvement with the 2026 CRE Women’s Leadership Summit, contributing to the planning and development of this year’s program. Her continued engagement reflects the same focus on mentorship, leadership development and creating opportunities for women that has defined much of her career.

“Thought leadership, to me, isn’t about having all the answers,” said Marcy. “It’s about being willing to share the wins, the lessons and even the missteps. CRE Insight Journal has given me a platform to contribute to an industry that has given me so much, and that matters deeply to me. To be recognized for those contributions with the Thought Leadership Award is both an honor and a reminder that our experiences have greater value when we’re willing to share them.”

Marcy’s current work focuses on helping commercial real estate professionals think differently about how they lead, build relationships and create opportunities. Her work addresses the business and people sides of the industry, including how professionals position themselves, communicate their value and build strong teams.

She also speaks and writes about entrepreneurship and the challenges that come with building something of your own. Across these topics, her approach draws on her experience in senior leadership and her understanding of the decisions that shape both people and organizations.

Through The Moneypenny Collective, Marcy empowers women in commercial real estate to build influence, accelerate careers, and lead confidently. Her thought leadership rethinks traditional leadership while promoting opportunities for emerging leaders. Through speaking, coaching, and industry engagement, she inspires collaboration, visibility, and stronger, inclusive workplaces.

“Marcy generously shares her time and thought leadership not just with the CRE Insight Journal community, but with countless real estate professionals around the country through The Moneypenny Collective, articles, volunteer service, and mentoring,” said Gabriel Eckert, Editor in Chief of CRE Insight Journal. “Marcy’s sincere care for others, drive for excellence, and advocating for women in commercial real estate make her an ideal recipient of this year’s Thought Leadership Award.”
