Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) has been actively engaged at all levels – from local to international – in providing timely resources for real estate professionals and companies to learn about and respond to the evolving situation. Providing timely educational programs has been BOMA’s focus from the start. A few of BOMA’s most recent educational programs are highlighted below.

BOMA International presented a tax analysis of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act. While the CARES Act is not a “real estate bill” the tax implications can directly impact commercial real estate ownership and operations; product and service providers; as well as the tenants of commercial. The recorded webinar focuses on real estate interests and business, small businesses and tenants, as well as other important measures of the bill.

In response to declining tenant utilization of buildings, BOMA Georgia has released an educational program on Operational Savings in a Time of Low Census. The educational recording explores the tactics that some property management and building operations staff are implementing to cut costs at their properties to save owners and tenants money through the reduction of operating expenses.

BOMA Georgia also collaborated with two epidemiologists to produce a three-part video series, which includes the topics of social/physical distancing, building/office cleaning and waste, and hand hygiene.

Finally, BOMA Georgia has also announced it will host two additional webinars to help property owners, managers. On April 23, 2020 it will host a webinar on Managing the Tenant/Customer Experience During COVID-19, and on April 29 BOMA Georgia will host a webinar titled Building Utilization Rate Increase, which is designed to help property professionals prepare for an increase in building utilization once social/physical distancing requirements are eased.
